I took the transcript from Sarah Palin's VP acceptance speech at last night's Republican convention (top) and compared it to the VP acceptance transcript given by Joe Biden from the Democratic convention (bottom) using wordle.

I wish wordle would combine Americans and American into one entry for Biden's speech. Interesting that the word Palin appears so much in Palin's own speech.

It also looks as though Wordle is case-sensitive. In Palin's speech, I notice both "boos" and "Boos" (presumably transcribing audience reactions).

I find it interesting how much the words John McCain appear in Biden's speech. That, along with the ubiquitous "change" really jump out at me outside of the obvious Barack and Obama that you would expect.

I just wanted to add a comment that the Palin wordle shown isn't exactly correct. I think you took the audience chants (particularly the prominent "USA") into consideration and not specifically the just the text of the speech. That's why "USA" is so prominent. However, I was intrigued enough by this concept to do the same with just the speech text and get a different (but not by much) wordle of her speech. Biden's was the same. Anyway, excellent eye-opener! Thanks.

I'm a McCain/Palin supporter, but I would agree that the inclusion of the word "USA" (as wells as the boos) is a little decieving, it wasn't really part of her speech so much as part of the atmosphere. Other than that exception though, it's a very interesting comparison.
