You are right...it's madness the crap that permeates FB. I went in and cleaned out a ton of that stuff I had added. Seemed to be most of my contacts were playing with the services, so I just added. All it did was clutter things up and fill up my inbox.

I've told all of my friends not to send me any app requests, which has largely stemmed the flood. People who keep it up run the risk of getting deleted.

Wow, now I know I did the right thing by not joining FaceBook or MySpace or any other site like that. This Flickr account is as close as I get to social networking.
Few people really look at my photostream anyhow, so hey! No stress!

Auto-Block Facebook Apps 1.1
This script will block app invites sent to you by friends. After the facebook profile page is loaded, it finds all the applications that your friends have invited you to and blocks them. Do not worry though, you can go to facebook.com/privacy.php?view=platform&ta b=all and unblock them.

I tend to agree with Failblog.org. Their Facebook share button calls it FAILbook. +1 for that.
I only signed up for it because some people I went on canoe trips with last summer asked me to. Never again. I'm sticking with places like Twitter and FriendFeed from now on. I still have Failbook, but I don't really use it.
