A bit of day-time thawing but sevral nights at -10 or cooler mean than week-old snow remains quite a barrier to rural walkers, drivers and animals.

Downland thaw?

Downland thaw?

OK, so today there were signs of a thaw and daytime temperatures stayed above zero all day..... but the country road in the Kent Downs, such as this up the Syndale valley to Ringlestone, were merely passable (at 10MPH) to vehicles other than 4x4s for the first time in more than a week.
