- was this the top of the tower ??? - TIDY PHOTOGRAPHY
Noble County Schoolhouse
This schoolhouse is used as a Halloween venue and had advertised their hauntednight in New Paris at the hardware. I drove over and found the place but no sign of any activity. I was so excited by the look of the building, I couldn't quit taking pictures even though the light was low.
Okay, this is really strange; I just checked out the website they listed on the flyer - www.hauntedgreencenter.com. They have no pics of the place and it says it was open this evening but there was no one around and the inside looked like it was just full of old junk, definitely not ready for any kind of event.

Jennifer, I was going nuts when I saw it and had the same idea. I was thinking, "How much would it cost to cart this thing home?" (Too much!) This is within driving distance for you, a daytrip perhaps.
Thanks Spookyfoto, Most of my photos are from the past but this was fresh from this evening. It was so wonderful, I will post some more views of it.

What a gorgeous little building. Instead of letting it sit and rot, and then doing it the injustice and indignity of using as a "haunted schoolhouse" it could be restored and educating schoolkids about how the education system was back then. Ugh. Rant over. Sorry. :-)

Wow, fantastic building. Notice the cupola in the front yard? I know of a schoolhouse over in the far west side of Cincinnati that's also being used as a "haunted schoolhouse". It's actually a pretty fantastic building, but I'll have to wait until after Halloween...

Decrepit - One problem (for their own good) with these old schoolhouses here is that there are so many. Our County park system has one moved to the park and fixed up. They do have events in it and educational stuff too. Most of them get used as agricultural storage or just left to fall down.
cziffra1 - I thought of you immediately when I saw this!

Wow....this is way cool. I love that cupola sitting in front! And I agree.....it should have been restored and used as a museum. Of course, I'm a school teacher....so I'm a little biased. LOL Oh, and congrats on Explore!

I can fill you in on the story behind this schoolhouse, as I am from Green Center. The Haunted School House that you were refering to is located at the old Green Center elementary school, a couple miles from this old one room schoolhouse. This building isn't used anymore for anything.
The Haunted School House has been going since 1985 and is one of the top Halloween attractions in Northeast Indiana.

I still don't understand why they used a photo of this building with the correct address as an advertisement for the haunted house. Why would they do that if it wasn't going to be held here? It sure didn't look on the inside like it had ever been used for anything in a long time!
This photo was invited and added to the Rot Squad group.
