Bank vole

During the recent snowy weather I noticed that bank voles were appearing from a wood and weed pile next to where I feed Cobweb the goat. I started scattering a small amount of her food near the pile every morning and now, within a few seconds of hearing the food hit the ground, I'm being treated to seeing voles scampering out to grab it.

The area is in deep shade, so far from ideal for photographing them (and I don't want to use flash) and I'm unlikely to get wonderful quality images - but I think they're such cute little things that I'll make do with what I can get! I'm also happy just watching them..

The bank vole is the smallest UK vole and is active all year.

This is a cropped image, taken when the vole paused briefly.
