LG universal HD-DVD/Blu-ray player![]() Commentscasualsuede says:BigDaddyrocks98: Knowing how fast new

neandrithal1 says:So while the other player manufacturers are
scrambling to figure out how LG did it, and
the consumer market sits on it waiting for a
more affordable model, we're still going to
have to figure out wich format is going to
stick. Its nice that we now have a player
available that handles both formats, its a
relatively nice slap in the face for both
sides of the fence. It's like a mother
bringing down the hammer on two children that
refuse to share the same toy. And as the
cross-compatibility technology becomes
cheaper to produce, and becomes standard in
most HD players, we won't have to worry about
wich format is going to die off, because we
will have players that still support our
previous investment in HD entertainment.
Nice.
bigstevefriends says:great! throw in a vhs and you three players
that refuse to work
martin_cc04 says:yeah but dont forget digital downloading-that
might take out HD and Blu Ray

This will certainly be a benefit to anyone unsure which format they wanted to side with, but the rumored $1200 price tag for the player is more than I'd like to spend on a movie player. I'm fine going with Blu-Ray on the PS3 for now. Maybe when TrueHD has a cheaper model, this will alleviate concerns. Until then, we all just have to hope the format we start with isn't the one that folds.
