      Beautiful colours! what is it?

    6. doug.deep (70 months ago | reply)

Thanks Lily_fl, it's the upper surface of a sea-star, Asterodiscides truncatus. They are found at depth of 14m - 800m on reefs from Eucla, Western Australia to Solitary Island, New South Wales.

This looks like one of those tests to see if you are colorblind or not. I always loved the look of those things. This is great. This is inspiring me to shoot more textures and patterns - and it's a good reminder to fill the whole frame with the pattern for maximum effect.

It still looks like a number "2" to me in yellow and purple on a red background. Do I pass the test?

I found a test to show you what this reminds me of.

Thanks, Tromba Marina - your eyesight appears to be normal ; )

I had the same thought as TrombaMarina - the #2 in an old colorblindness test. I love those too. Here's another 2, but not as pretty as yours:

I've loved this shot ever since I first saw it a couple of years ago.

It reminds me of one of those vision tests for colorblindness where you have to say what number or letter you see. I think "2" is the answer in this one.
