Differences between color perspective and aerial perspective. Subjects in cold colors seem to be further away than warm colored subjects. When we look at a scenery, the subjects farther away seem paler and weaker by color. The atmosphere contains humidity and particles that lessen the light reflected off subjects, which makes them look paler by color.

The atmospheric impact on colors and thus impression of depth is called aerial perspective.

    ilmaperspektiivi.

Nice shot, just wish I could understand the caption.

The caption explains the differences between color perspective and aerial perspective. Sorry for the single language version, I'll add an English translation :-)

Isn't that why the sky is blue... something to do with the suspended particles in the atmosphere and refraction?

    5. Vilhelm Sjostrom (60 months ago | reply)

Exactly. I actually dug this up in an exam book from university and shot the photo for a lecture at a camera club.

      Hi mureena,
This is a beautiful shot. The colder colours do indeed feel like there is some cold air or humidity floating through.

Great photo. I love the mood!! Kind of surreal/dreamy, out of a storybook.

I love the foreground of this photo, the rich texture of the colors, trees and grasses. Nicely composed.

      Hyvin epäsuomalaiselta näyttää tämä metsä.

      Hi OhChiik
I am guessing you're not from Finland? It is quite common to get that kind of growth on trees - it is like moss but has actually got its own name: liverwort. It can grow on rocks, trees, on the ground - anything damp. And...it's very sensitive to pollution so unfortunately disappearing, even in Finland....

    18. OhChiik (60 months ago | reply)

You guess correctly, Veera. I am a New Yorker, so we don't see much liverwort (or trees for that matter) in much of this city. Too much of our natural environment is disappearing or has disappeared as a result of industrialization. It is tragic.
