It grows a few meters away from its origin ... They both share pretty much the same "curvy" shape ... But above all it is obvious that they share common life and more or less common fate ... They freeze together during winter and they get scorched together during summer !!!!

I don't know If I'm jealous of the father though ... My eighteen year old son has been offered an opprtunity to study at one of the greatest Universities of the world in England and as a family we are facing a huge dilemma ... Should we keep him close or should we let him open his wings so early in life ?

Here in Greece we could keep him close to us like the tree in the above seen shot, but then here we now have heavy winter ... A winter that alas is going to last for many years ... A winter that is unfortunately not going to pass easily over our heads !!!!

It would deffinitely be better for him to go ...

EXIF: Panasonic DMC-ZX1 with Leica lens, Normal Program (choices made by user), f 4.2, Focal Length 8,1 mm, ISO 80, Pattern metering mode, light source fine weather, manually adjusted white balance, auto focus mode, HDR shot made of three different auto-bracketed captures with shutter speeds 1/30 s, 1/60 s, 1/125 s, no tripod, no flash ...

Kinda summer sick ... HDR

Kinda summer sick ... HDR

Press L or click on the photo to view it on black background ...

For almost two weeks now winter exhibits a rather "ugly" face over Northern Greece and nothing indicates a "soon to come" improvement. And even though I consider myself more or less a winter type of guy, I begun feeling somewhat down in the mouth lately and ...kinda summer sick !!!!

It is true nonetheless that for us photographers there is always an escape and even though you may not go out and capture a sunny shot, nothing really obstructs you from diving into the photographs of the past, into captures that were taken during the last or maybe any other summer season .... A little bit of processing (that makes you feel you're there) and ... presto !!!!

In the above shot it's not the rocks that make the difference, neither the extremely calm sea ... Not even the beautiful sunset that creates a sunny spot over the rather dark overall atmosphere ... It's the fisherman that makes the difference and if you can't really locate him after casting the first glance, put some more effort and it is certain that you will !!!!!

EXIF: Panasonic DMC-ZX1 with Leica lens, Normal Program (choices made by user), f 3.3, Focal Length 4,5 mm, ISO 80, Pattern metering mode, light source fine weather, manually adjusted white balance, auto focus mode, HDR shot made of three different auto-bracketed captures with shutter speeds 1/80 s, 1/160 s, 1/320 s, no tripod, no flash ...

Invaluable family moments ....

Invaluable family moments ....

Every once in a while all people need to really "focus" on whatever Mother Nature has to offer ... They need to take their family and escape from every day madness, escape from mental suffocation, get away from modern life's spiritual oppression and go to a place where one's soul can actually be rejuvenated, can feel alive again ...

Believe me my friends the place that this beautiful family chose to "fish" doesn't have much to offer to their dinner plates ... It certainly has a lot to offer to their souls though ...

And if ... just if a fish happens to pay a visit to this family's fishing line ... so much the better !!!!

EXIF: Panasonic DMC-ZX1 with Leica lens, Normal Program (choices made by user), f 5.2, Focal Length 18,8 mm, ISO 125, Pattern metering mode, light source fine weather, manually adjusted white balance, auto focus mode, shutter speed 1/160 s, no tripod, flash went off ...
