This is a shot from the most amazing Jain temples at Ranakpur in Rajasthan. I was in awe of the architecture and the intricate carvings inside the temple but what impressed me most is that there are 1444 pillars in the temple, all made of marble but no two of them are similar to each other.

Each and every pillar in this temple is unique in its shape, and the carvings on them. I looked at different ways of capturing these pillars and found this one corner where the sun light on the pillars formed a very interesting pattern on the floor.

About Ranakpur

Ranakpur is a village located in Desuri tehsil near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan in western India. It is located between Jodhpur and Udaipur, in a valley on the western side of the Aravalli Range. Ranakpur is easily accessed by road from Udaipur.
Ranakpur is widely known for its marble Jain temple, and for a much older Sun Temple which lies opposite the former.

    Mesmerising, and your commentary is so interesting, too. This is what I love about flickr. We see worlds we'd never have visited but for the wonderful photographers who have captured images for us. Superb.
