Continuing with the animals and India theme -- Domesticated dogs as pets in India is pretty rare compared to all of the street dogs wandering around. When I saw this one while walking around Pondicherry, I had to get a photo.

Lakshmi gives her blessing

My host in Pondicherry said I shouldn't miss an opportunity to meet the elephant Lakshmi, who is chained to the front of the Ganesh Hindu temple and, in return for a snack or some coins, "blesses" you with her trunk.
