Day 67 (03.07.2012)

I'm back on the road again, heading to Georgia for work and a jam-packed weekend of activities. Hoping I can keep up!

How will your broom stand up to the test?

How will your broom stand up to the test?

Day 66 (03.06.2012)

So, have any of you heard of the latest facebook/twitter phenomenon where everyone is trying to make their brooms stand up? Apparently it has something to do with the planets aligning themselves, or with the upcoming Spring Equinox, or the fact you have a witch in your house. Regardless, I had to try it.

First, I had to find my broom.....hmmmm.....now where did I see that sucker last? When was the last time I used it? Do I even have a broom? Maybe I left it outside after a midnight ride? Ok, after about a half an hour I found it, right next to the vacume cleaner which I also had forgotten about. Regardless of whether this works or not, perhaps someone is trying to send me a message!

Next, I needed to align it with the sun. Ok, since I didn't want my neighbors to think I had totally lost it by taking a broom to my yard, I ran outside, memorized where the sun was, then ran back inside and guessed. I'm sure my standing in my front yard peering up at the sun, then looking down to get my bearings, then looking up again, then looking down again, then weaving back into the house because I was blind from sun spots in my eyes did not alarm them at all.

Last, I put the broom on the floor and stood back. Guess what? It stood on the first try! And it kept standing there while I walked all around it taking photos from different angles (trying not to get dust and cat hair in the photo).

Now, I don't know if it ever stood any other time of the year, but I have to confess, it totally creeped me out when it did it this afternoon. So, instead of using it I've hidden it back in the closet along where I found it, along with the vacume cleaner just in case it gets any crazy ideas.

If only there could be a month when it actually swept the floor instead of just standing around?

If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it. ~ Andy Rooney

As much as I hate the smell of Bradford Pear trees, they sure do stand out pretty against a beautiful blue Alabama sky!

Happy Monday!!

Day 64 (03.04.2012)

Although chilly, it was an absolutely gorgeous Sunday afternoon and I spent a good part of the day outside getting some fresh air. The Dynamic Duo (street names: Bacchus & Lola) were enjoying sunning themselves on my sidewalk so I decided to sneak my camera out and try to get a decent photo of the two of them together. The minute they heard the shutter click they completely became unwilling to do anything I asked. These are just a sample of the afternoon of attempts!

Oh well, I will get a portrait of the two of them together one of these days...I am determined!!

Lift off

Lift off

Another brown pelican photo taken on my trip to Clearwater, Florida a couple of weeks ago. They always look as if they should be clumsy to me, until they take off and then they are so graceful!
