Introducing....Roxie

Introducing....Roxie

This is my new puppy Roxie. She is 11 weeks old and she is a Chiweenie – half Chihuahua and half Dachshund…and just too sweet for words. Max surprised everyone by his attitude towards her - no hissing, jealousy or running away, he adores her. I knew he would be wonderful, he is, after all the greatest cat ever…in my opinion! Max lays next to me when I am holding her and at night he sits on the end of my bed and stares at her in her crate until she falls asleep.

Heather got her from a rescue group who rescue puppies who are at risk for being destroyed because the shelters don’t have the manpower to raise puppies…so she is very special. She was one of 9 puppies, 4 of her siblings had been adopted, and 2 more were pending application approval. We love her colors and markings, she fits right in with Heathers miniature pinschers, Jack and Bailey. Bailey is very sweet, she acts like Roxie’s mom – licks her, and makes sure she doesn’t get too far away from her bed, and stands interference with the boisterous Jack, who is a bit jealous right now. But he is a baby himself, only 8 months old…so we are trying to avoid middle child syndrome…haha!

This is Roxie’s first photo shoot, and if she talks to Max…..he will tell her this is only the beginning, Mom will point that camera at you every chance she gets..so welcome to the family and get used to it…haha!

The best gift under the tree

The best gift under the tree

Here is my boy Max, doing what he does best.....just being adorable! I caught him nibbling on the tree this morning, so of course, he was fair game for a photo shoot! Max and I wanted to wish all our friends a very happy holiday and a joyous new year. My resolution for next year is to make the time to get out and take more photos and get caught up on flickr!

40 pounds of cute

40 pounds of cute

I know....shocker another post within two days...haha! But I had to make the time to post this shot . This is one of the incredibly adorable 4 1/2 month old Sumatran tiger cubs from the Los Angeles Zoo. Sumatran tigers are endangered with less than 500 of them left in the world, their birth is very exciting, not only for the zoo but for the worlds population of Sumatran tigers.

The cubs mom, Lulu is so patient and loving with two mischevious little boys running around. I spent several hours watching them, they were just magical to watch...I could have watched them all day! Look at the size of his paws, he is going to be a very big boy!

This shot is dedicated to my dear friend Charles (flickr aka charadm) who is the master of taking shots of snow leopards. Try as I might, I never can get the snow leopards to cooperate with me....but the tigers pose for me all the time Charles...haha!

Happy Holidays from Piggy

Happy Holidays from Piggy

This is the 161st in my Macro Eraser Practice series and no matter how busy I am, I knew I had to make time for a Christmas eraser shot starring Piggy. Besides he looks so darn cute in the white Christmas tree….and you have no idea how hard it was to find a beautiful white tree!

The last two years have been a roller coaster for me…lots of ups and downs, adjusting to changes and learning that everything happens for a reason. The new house is incredible, and the first Christmas here is very special….lots of decorating and keeping the animals out of everything is a full time job! I have included a photo below of the living room decorated for Christmas. My friend says it looks like a Dr. Suess tree with all the random ornaments and the bright colors! I made stockings for all the animals, the train commute turned out to be a good time to handsew them. I am trying really hard to adjust to commuting, but that is a work in progress…haha! My life is mostly eating, sleeping, working and riding the train…still looking for a balance so I can do other things! Of course, no treats in the stockings because Olivia would be all over the mantle trying to get to them. Bailey and Jack (Heather’s dogs) have discovered a new pastime….unwrapping presents, so we can’t leave the two of them in the living room without supervision. Besides cleaning up the mess, I am tired of rewrapping gifts all the time. Max is, as always, the most amazing cat and I think he has enjoyed not having the camera in his face all the time…but he is long overdue for a portrait.

Even though I have not been on flickr very much recently, don’t believe for a minute that I don’t think of all my friends here all the time. I just started getting out and taking pictures again and hope to learn to deal with time constraints and make time to get back on flickr. I just made my second trip to the Los Angeles Zoo, and got to see the two 4 ½ month old tiger cubs, just tooooo cute for words! I have never seen baby tigers before and we spent hours watching them. I am a little out of practice with the camera, so not very many shots turned out….but I got a few good ones. I will have to post some soon.

This shot is dedicated to all my friends and contacts here on flickr…wishing you all the most wonderful holiday season and hope the upcoming New Year brings you great happiness and joy. I miss you all very much and one of my New Year’s resolutions is to get back on flickr on a regular basis again….I am sure you all have been taking the most amazing pictures and I can’t wait to see what you have been up to! Hugs from me and Max !

This shot is dedicated to my dear friend Pete and his beloved cat Colin. Colin was indeed a lucky cat to have you in his life and you are better for having him in your life. He brought you so much joy and laughter, the imprint he left on your heart is priceless. I fell in love with Colin, as I am sure many others did on flickr...he was such a gentle, beautiful soul. I will miss him terribly, but he will always be in our hearts and yours. My heart goes out to you Pete....and I am here for you. Hugs always from me and Max.
