Hey, are you drawn towards this shit?

“What shit pimpy? I can't stop wondering what's under the brim of your fedora and staring at those super cool tattoos!”

Um, yeah thanks. But you must look beyond my arms and hat like a real pimpoholic.

I am sitting in someone’s piss and shit surrounded by countless crusty curse words spray painted on the walls of a building that has everything chained and boarded shut because it hasn’t been occupied in years. Why do I like taking a picture in this fucking abortion? Well, I like it motherfucker. And I am not the only one.

There is a subculture of people in cities around the globe that really get into this urban exploring. Cities like Detroit which has been decimated now attracts this type more than any other. Shit to some, beauty to others.

So what the fuck? What makes it different than laying in a dumpster full of maggots behind a restaurant and snapping a happy little picture there?

Urbex is different. There is something enamoring about hanging out in a place that claims home the dregs of society. The story of a homeless drug addict who lives in this building is bound to be much more interesting than a rich kid who grew up in a mansion, right? Maybe. To me at least. But there is more to it than that.

A place such as this has history. It once housed people. It once had a purpose. It once was kept up. It once was built. It once was thought up by an architect to BE built.

I feel like so much character surrounds me when I find a spot like this. So much has happened at these very doorsteps. The broken glass, the chain, the graffiti, all the shit on the ground – it all tells a story. A sad one? An exciting one? An adventurous one? Hmmm. An interesting one! I’ll bet my fucking balls the stories are interesting. I'll bet BOTH of my balls! And my cock too.

Sadly this building was set on fire by some piece of shit soon after I took this shot. And my towns only somewhat hidden urbex treasure is no more. It stood for years like this before I found it on this day. Days later it caught fire and they demolished it soon after. Fuckers.

What do you think? Urban exploring… dirty useless waste of time or exciting pimptified fedorafilled opportunities?

Anyone got a smoke?
