The Sound

The Sound

Our Daily Challenge: Sound

I loved the early morning light spilling across my husbands cello. I chose the tuning pegs as my focus, because even when he's tuning the instrument, it is a beautiful sound.

Happy Thursday everyone! <3

Archive Love: Road To Giant's Causeway

Archive Love: Road To Giant's Causeway

“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.” – Samuel Johnson

This road led down to the Giant's Causeway in County Antrim. The funny thing about traveling, is while you have high expectations for specific sites, you often find yourself in awe over the part that takes you there. Here, the road leading down was surrounded by pure beauty. It was a quiet moment to ourselves, as most opted to take the bus ride down. We chose to walk.

Lyrics of Our First Song

Lyrics of Our First Song

Three hours we sat on the Starbucks patio. Lights off, store closed. Plucking through the chords, learning how to strum, singing to the lyrics.

Just friends, we said. But the three hours turned to more, months passed. And a year later we were saying "I DO".

The first song we plucked that night over four years ago was "Falling Slowly" known from the movie Once. The Frames and Glen Hansord have perfected it's simple beauty in my opinion.

I don't know you but I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me and always fool me
And I can't react

You have suffered enough and what with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time, raise your hopeful voice
You had the choice, you've made it now

Time

Our Daily Challenge: Time

I grew up as a radio kid, my dad being a DJ since he was 15. My first job was running ball games on the board. Eventually I got to help with remotes and be the office gopher. Since the station he owned was oldies, I believe it gave me a greater appreciation for music. I learned to love folks like Jim Croce, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Roger Whitaker, Frank Sinatra and many more.

But, I digress. Time in A Bottle was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the challenge for "Time".

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

Time In A Bottle by Jim Croce

Vintage, Memories

Vintage, Memories

The camera is part of my small collection. I love to find vintage cameras here and there when out flea marketing. This particular one, Josh and I found together in Little Rock. I have another brownie, but this one is much older.

It is sitting on a table that I inherited. My great grandmother owned it before it passed on to my Grandma, who passed it on to my mother, who gave it to me when I moved out for the first time. I hope it stays in the family for many more wonderful years.

While these pieces may be old or ugly to some-- each wear and tear holds a story from years gone by.
