Château Frontenac - 1st of 2
The Château Frontenac grand hotel is one of the most popular attractions in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Designed by architect Bruce Price, the Château Frontenac was one of a long series of "château" style hotels built for the Canadian Pacific Railway company at the end of the 19th and the start of the 20th century. It opened in 1893, five years after its sister-hotel the Banff Springs. The railway company sought to encourage luxury tourism and bring wealthy travelers to its trains.

Le Château Frontenac était un des premiers d'une longue série d'hôtels style « château » construit pour la compagnie ferroviaire Canadien Pacifique, selon les plans de l'architecte américain Bruce Price à la fin du XIXe siècle et au début du XXe siècle. Il ouvrit ses portes en 1893. La société ferroviaire a cherché à encourager le tourisme de luxe et à transporter les voyageurs bien nantis dans ses trains. Le Château Frontenac est un « cousin » du Château Lac Louise sur la rive du lac Louise en Alberta. Son architecture s'inspire des châteaux érigés en France vers la période de la Renaissance.[
