All alone!

    Our Daily Challenge ...mystery.

Pelicans are social birds who live in colonies but we have one pelican who visits the lake alone every week or so. I had been feeling unwell with a headache for most of the day and had no idea what I could do for the challenge until I went out to see if I could get some inspiration in the garden and saw our lone pelican sailing gracefully towards me. I got quite a few nice shots because for the first time s/he did not turn tail as soon as I went out. The mystery is two fold ... first why does s/he come alone, and second, why did s/he hang around for the photo shoot today? We also wonder if it is male or female and even if it is always the same bird. Anyway I was happy to see her/him today and at a time (sunset) when the lake was looking particularly beautiful with the golden reflections and ripples.

Couldn't decide which I liked best. I like the framing in the first but the ripples in the second so I decided to show you both.
