You achieved a very interesting effect with
the one well lit face looking back at the
camera from a sea of camouflage. As a
previous commenter said "if looks could
kill."
I think it is a safe assumption that this is
a candid shot so you had to catch it while it
was available and had little choice about the
foreground which is unfortunate. The not so
well lit face in the lower left and the dark,
and very noisy, hat lower right detract from
the overall effect. The right side of the
image to about 2/3rds of the way up seems too
dark to me.
Overall the image seems a little soft to me,
perhaps that was your intent.
This is an interesting shot but, in my
opinion, not a very good one.
I'm of two minds about this one. At first
it's confusing, no doubt because of the sea
of camouflage. As in the above comment, the
lower part is much darker than the main and
upper which makes the shot a bit choppy. One
thing I do like is how the shot emphasises
the uniformity of this group. The soldier
looking back is the only defined object here.
If it was indeed a candid, though, you did
what you could with it.
I am just loving this photograph! What a
capture! The look on the soldiers face makes
me gasp! He looks pretty serious! I love
the focus on him but how you can see all of
the other soldiers before him.. so many of
them as well. Great lighting and colors..
brilliant image.. something to be proud of-
bravo! ----------------- -----------------------------------
This is an amazingly impressive photograph.
The camouflage uniforms make it quiet hard to
separate the soldiers from one another. This
lets the soldier who is turning around stand
out even more. And his gaze is really
intensely frightening. How did you fight the
urge to turn and run? Nothing to improve here. Practically perfect
in every way.
Really interesting, reading all the comments
and contrasting reactions to this shot. I
can't possibly see how that is a "come
hither" look - he's definitely trying to
be menacing. I think it is *almost* a really
good shot - the large amount of black space
on the bottom right detracts hugely from the
composition - for me. I actually wonder about
cropping in much more tightly - have
suggested a crop. :)

I see what you mean about the bottom left and right. The Sigma has bad corner fall off wide open. You can't see it on the top because of the crop.
