San Francisco at Blue Hour No.3

San Francisco at Blue Hour No.3

A couple of days ago I was coming back to Marin from San Francisco about an hour and a half before sunset and the marine layer was in low across The Golden Gate Bridge. It was low enough the the upper half of the bridge towers were above the fog, which extended into the bay and stopped as it reached Alcatraz. It was all set to be a fabulous photographic evening and I went straight home and grabbed my Mamiya TLR, loaded it with Kodak E100VS, and head back down to the Marin Headlands. I was getting my gear set up as the sun was going down and to my dismay, the marine layer was retreating back out to the Pacific Ocean. Undaunted, I keep going and took a dozen shots over the next hour and what you see above is one of the ones that I got before the fog completely disappeared.

Camera: Mamiya C220f

Fire at The Golden Gate

Fire at The Golden Gate

This was taken at Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands shortly after sunset a couple of days ago. The view is to the southwest toward The Golden Gate...the bridge is just out of frame to the left. To get these colors so rich and vibrant, I did absolutely nothing in post production, they are the result of using Kodak E100VS...the VS stands for Vivid Saturation.

Camera: Mamiya C220f
Lens: Mamiya-Sekor 80mm f/2.8 S w/Seiko #0 Shutter
Exposure: Not noted, but metered with Gossen LunaSix 3
Film: Kodak Ektachrome 100VS Professional
Scanner: Epson V750-M Pro

Sandra S. Headshot

Sandra S. Headshot

I did a photoshoot this afternoon with a wonderful model and this is just a sample of what we got.

I asked once before and didn't get a response, but can anyone tell me why the images change once I upload the file to Flickr. This shot is much warmer when viewed from the original file, but has become fairly cool after Flickr has done whatever they do with the files. Some images do not seem to change and then some seems to change a fair amount, as this one did.

Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro @50mm
Exposure: 1/250 sec @ f/2.8 ISO 100
Lighting: Canon 430EX off camera right with shoot through umbrella, fired with Canon ST-E2

Telford's Commercial Shoot

Telford's Commercial Shoot

A while back I was involved with a television commercial shoot for my favorite tobacconist, Telford's in Mill Valley. I had a brief on camera spot, but spent a good part of the day capturing the behind the scenes aspect of the making of the commercial.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (350D)
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro @23mm
Exposure: 1/200 Second @ f/2.8 ISO100
