When you like to take photographs as a hobby, especially animal photography, it is a rare but thrilling privilege of knowing yourself in the company of someone who has published, what I regard as one of the most beautiful books on leopards ever made. It is called “Living with Leopards” and the author is Mr. Nils Kure, Regional Manager of Mala Mala in South Africa. The book has been on my coffee table for over a year now and is so thumbed by now that I didn’t dare to take it with me to have him sign it for me. (I played with the idea of having him sign off our rather substantial bar-bill and secretly glue it into the book later on :-)).
This beautiful leopard was also taken on the very first day of our
holiday. Can you imagine that we saw 4 leopards between arriving in
Mala Mala at 3PM and 7PM when it got dark!!
It was already late; too late to photograph and it was only with the help of tracker Phillemon's spotlight (that did not disturb the leopard at all and lit her up perfectly) that I was able to capture her.
As the minutes to twelve o’clock tick off, I want to thank each and every one of you for your presence on Flickr. I value your friendship, comments, faves, your encouragements, for letting me admire your photos and for your patience when I’m once again too busy to comment as much as I would like to. It feels very warm to be part of such a positive site as Flickr. Over the past 2 years I’ve got to know many of you, either in person or by email or through your comments. Please know that it means a lot to me.
I’m going to wish you THE best New Year. May it bring you lots of
happiness, health and many, many wonderful new pictures. Take care.
