Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) and Black-headed Gulls (Larus ridibundus) - Marshside RSPB Reserve, Southport.
This is a large salt-marsh. The towns you can see in the distance are Lytham St Anne's and Blackpool on the Fylde Peninsula. In between the marsh and the Fylde coast is the deep estuary of the River Ribble. From Southport people who do not know the estuary and the dangers of the tide often set out to walk across the sand to Blackpool and have to be rescued! It does look like just a walk but the estuary in-between the two towns is a deep channel.
