Digital newsstand powered by Mac Mini
I've modified an old newspaper vending box to deliver the latest headlines to my living room each morning, and I don't even have to fumble around for quarters.
The digital newsstand is powered by a Mac Mini 1.42 GHz G4, connected to a 17" LG Flatron monitor. It runs an AppleScript that generates a slideshow of newspaper front page images using PhotoPresenter.

I could see these appearing on streetcorners, to draw attention to the dead-tree rags inside. They'd need some serious vandalproofing and detection, but in nicer neighborhoods it could work.

Wow. Definitely the most creative use of a newspaper dispenser ever. That's one expensive way of getting your daily news though.
