July 1978 notebook

July 1978 notebook

I found my notebook from 1978 in which I kept track of all the jobs I did for customers. This is a typical month in which I did 4 cars and 5 motorcycles, including 2 bikes for Arlen. I even kept track of the "freebies" I did for friends as you can see by the n/c for Snyder and a painter named Bob who I did a trade job for. The red Corvette was a full on McCann leaf job which is why it was $250. The "Australian" bike for Arlen was a full frame, tank, oil tank and rear fender leaf job @ $125. which was my flat rate at that time. This was leaf and striping only, no paint work, so material cost was minimal, variegated leaf was $4 a book at the hobby store back then! Keep in mind I did this while working full time at the print shop, striping and leafing every night after work and all day into the night on weekends.
