Three!

Three!

Three unique elements make up this unusual image. The surface ice in the forground that is just barely visible. Next is the tangle of roots and branches that defies it's own presence; just how did it get there? And last, Mount Yamnuska and it's reflection that surrounds the calogue of roots.

JAG

JAG

Just Another Gorgeous evening of light over the Calgary resevoir? Or maybe this one is just a little different. The ice does not entirely cover the water rather, it protrudes into the image enough to add a smooth texture unlike the rougher texture of the flowing water. The even ice also reflects the various streaks of light from the sky unlike the water that shows only a monotone color from the same source

Iced Up at Yamnuska

Iced Up at Yamnuska

Returning from Banff, I stopped at Mount Yamnuska. Some interesting patterns in a dam-like ice bridge served as an interesting foreground for the mountain itself. Note the date and lack of snow.

Peek, Peak

Peek, Peak

A frozen tributary runs by the trees that frame the small peek we get of the peak of Castle Mountain.

Explore # 188, thanks.

Eye Medicine

Eye Medicine

Sometimes photos and the emotions they can ellicit can serve as eye medicine. This one for example is just such an image since our Ringette team succumbed to the semi finals loss due to an out of Province referee. Even the other ref asked him what he was doing. He instead came to our bench and arrogantly professed that that is the way they ref in Ontario from where he hails.

What is Alberta coach to say to a team that finishes the game with 48 minutes in penalties, where no major infractions were called, in a Ringette game that is 40 minutes in length. Many of the penalties
were for touching the stick of the opposing team. Only once in the game did the local referee of 16 years experiece call the same penalty against our team. Yes, I feel robbed, our girls gave it their all, often playing against their 5 with only our 3 in a game that ended 5-3.
