Tree Nymph - Idea leuconoe - Changi butterfly garden, Singapore
The butterfly garden - Terminal 3, Changi International Airport,
Singapore - is the first of its kind in the world.
It houses approximately 1000 butterflies and it is a tropical nature retreat with a profusion of flowering plants, lush greenery and a 6 metre grotto-waterfall which allows visitors to experience nature, while observing at close range the remarkable life cycle of the butterfly, from an egg, to a fat caterpillar, to a less-than-attractive pupa and its final emergence as a beautiful creature of nature.
The garden is also home to a collection of 200 carnivorous or insectivorous plants from about 30 species of Nepenthes - tropical pitcher plants from Southeast Asia, especially Singapore.
