021|366: Nitzer Ebb - Lightning Man

021|366: Nitzer Ebb - Lightning Man

Today is day 21 of the 366 2012 Spotify Favourites Playlist, to which you may subscribe here.

Nitzer Ebb got to be featured for the third week running, this time under the theme of "Jazz", with this early 90s masterpiece from the Showtime album.

Douglas McCarthy was photographed live at Kulturbolaget in Malmö, Sweden. April 28, 2011. This shot was completely fried but I kind of liked this result of a couple of minutes work in Lightroom.

In Sweden, this is where we put the SOPA.

In Sweden, this is where we put the SOPA.

Actually, quite literally, since "sopa" is Swedish for "piece of garbage".

Bonus knowledge:
There is a story that Björn Borg and his coach were driving in the French countryside when their car (also French, so no Volvo/Saab jokes) broke down. Lennart Bergelin (the coach) went in a field and asked a farmer: "Do you have what we in Sweden call a skiftnyckel" (adjustable spanner).
Language is a beautiful thing.

014|366: Recoil - Jezebel

014|366: Recoil - Jezebel

Well this was an easy one to choose to finish of the Alan Wilder week of the 2012 366 Spotify Favourites Playlist. Jezebel is my long time favourite Recoil track.

I saw Recoil live in Gothenburg, as part of the Selected Events tour in 2010. Didn't have a camera, and for some reason forgot to even try capturing something with my phone. This is the pre-signed edition of the Unsound Methods album that I bought during the evening.

Jezebel is also supposed to ease us over to next week's theme of "Jazz". See you tomorrow in Spotify. I doubt there will be many images uploaded this week unfortunately, if I don't decide to illustrate the tracks a bit differently...

013|366: Nitzer Ebb - Come Alive

Douglas McCarthy live with Nitzer Ebb at Kulturbolaget in Malmö, Sweden. April 28, 2011.

Come Alive is a track from the As Is EP. It featured four tracks, all produced by different producers. This one, of course, was done by Alan Wilder. So Nitzer Ebb got to be featured for the second time in this series already, and it won't be the last.

011|366: Conjure One - Demon Inside

011|366: Conjure One - Demon Inside

Just like I think Recoil is the best thing about Depeche Mode, Conjure One is the best thing about Front Line Assembly. I was extremely pleased that Mr Fulber tagged along on the 2011 FLA tour, so we could get to see him perform on stage in our neighbourhood of the world for the first time. This shot was omitted from my original uploads. I tried giving it a demonic postprocessing for the occasion.

Conjure One was also one of the featured bonus acts on the Recoil tour of North America, hence his inclusion here in Alan Wilder week of the 2012 Playlist.

Demon Inside is from the latest album Exilarch, which is hearby warmly recommended. Besides, a bit of Pete Shelley reference is always welcome. I hope he keeps it up on the next album as well.

This is day eleven of the 2012 playlist, which, if you have Spotify, you should subscribe to here: Project 366 | 2012
