If it were not for rocks like this Mumbai would slowly melt back into the sea. No help would be needed from global warming and rising sea levels.

The skyline of Mumbai lights up as the colour of the sky fades. Beautiful monsters, aren't they? Especially that misshapen tower to the left.

A lovely specimen of the Indian Tortoiseshell fluttered down to rest on a warm rock in front of me. A lovely gift on a cold christmas eve. It's been so long since I photographed a butterfly.

A view of the Neora valley, dominated by a giant confused bee. The window could do with a little cleaning, but it was so cold that I'm sure nobody felt like wiping it down with a sponge.

When you spend time in a forest you are surrounded by insects, most of which you will never see. Only occasionally do you have the good luck to come across a beauty in good light.

sam2cents helped out with the id. He suggests this is a carpet moth, perhaps the red green carpet moth, although that is not recorded in the Himalayas; and therefore in the subfamily Larentiinae. Thanks a lot. Anything more will be much appreciated, since I know so little about moths.
