portofino from above

portofino from above

This is a shot of Portofino on the Italian Riviera. While we were staying in Santa Margharita, we took a day trip over here.

I loved Portofino! It was such a quaint little village. It was originally a shelter for all of the fisherman in storms. I took the picture from a castle on the other side of the port that was up high on top of a mountain. We hiked all the way to the top to check out the castle and when we got to the top, as I had hoped, there was a clear view of the whole village..

I loved the colors of these houses and just the history behind the whole place. It was a little tooo touristy here, but hey I was one of them so.. I do highly recommend going here and checking it out if you get a chance!

I hope you like the panorama!

Mountain Road

Mountain Road

This shot was taken somewhere in Italy.. lol! We had taken the ligura Maggiori Express up the lake all the way to Lacarno Switzerland. On the way home we took a train ride, which as you can see was beautiful! This shot was taken from the train window so it is not as sharp as I would really like it to be.. but what are you going to do.. I think it looks pretty cool!

There was a storm moving in, which thankfully just hovered over the top of the mountains.. Pretty amazing though that there was still snow on some parts of it.. this shot was taken in July!

medieval walk

medieval walk

Same spot as the shot I took of just the bicycle where the little old lady was trying to tell me the story about the swiss war bike.. Just a different view..

Como was really gorgeous! There was so much character here! And... by night the whole place was jumpin! We were there over a weekend that there was a swing dancing competition.. out of control amount of people everywhere! We had a great time!

swiss war bike..

swiss war bike..

This shot was taken in Como, Italy. The street that i took it on was dated back beyond medieval times.

The atmosphere here was awesome! You could see the places in which old doorways were filled in with newer stone. Same for windows and archways.. It was very cool!

This bicycle caught my eye as we were passing by.. I was setting my tripod up to take a couple shots of it and a little old lady, who may have owned the store, came walking over to me.. She was speaking so fast in Italian that it was difficult for me to understand what she was saying.. I dont speak a whole lot of Italian (mothers fault for not teaching me as a child) so I can only understand bits and pieces.. I couldnt really understand her at all.. So she grabbed my hand and dragged me over to the bike.. She was showing me that it was a Swiss bike from back in the day.. it had a Swiss symbol on it.. a gun holster, old Swiss license plate..

Thought it was a cool little story.. I wish I could have understood her completely to learn more of it.. but.. it is what it is..

Streets of Bellagio

Streets of Bellagio

This shot was taken in the village of Bellagio.. This place was awesome! I really loved it!

We took the ferry from Como all the way up the lake to Bellagio. The slow ferry took us about 2 hours to get there.. The village was comprised of a bunch of small streets that walked up pretty big hills of nothing but stores, restaurants, gelateria's, bars, etc.. it was very fun walking around there! I got quite a few good pictures of this little village.. When we left.. we took the fast ferry back which was about an hour.

Hope you enjoy.., I love how from the top of this street you can see the road heading down between the shops.. the lake in the distance... followed by the mountains!
