Rockcliffe Bay

Rockcliffe Bay

Took a trip to Southwest Scotland with the intention of taking long exposures of waves amongst the rockpools.

In the end the sea was so flat and calm, the waves were so small, you could have a 10 minute exposure and it would look sharp - no movement at all!

I got this stream over the rocks, but had to wait for the tide to go out before it appeared, by which time it was virtually dark. I am not really happy with the shot - but I know where I went wrong and next time I find myself on a beach a long way from home as it goes dark with a flat sea and no light - I will know how to do better!

Week 4/52 - Ex-Stream Detail

Week 4/52 - Ex-Stream Detail

I have opted for something that was as close as I've got this week to the theme of extreme detail. I went for black and white to pick out the detail on the rocks - so I have at least made some effort to go with the theme - despite being in the same place I spent half of my 365.

This was a backup shot, something in the bag in case the shots I took yesterday on my trip to the Scottish coast weren't up to much. In the event, while I liked some which I'll post later in the week - this was better.

Detail looks better with a large view.

365 - Slow News Day

365 - Slow News Day

Well, I'm in the esteemed pages of the Cumberland News. Which is the county's paper - so not a massive publication, but still - it is nice.

My thanks have to go to Rod. His column in the Brisbane Courier Mail mentioned a photo of mine and that I think, swung it to get into the paper. Brisbane being a long way from Cumbria and very exotic to us, the folk who dwell in this currently very wet, cold and grim part of the world.

I've added the location of the exhibition to the map - that isn't where I left my paper.

Viewing large is advisable. To avoid eyestrain.

Temple Door

Temple Door

A doorway into the 4th century synagogue at Capernaum, in Galillee. This stood above the earlier temple that is said to have been the site of many of the key preachings of Jesus.

The thing with a 365 is you blast on through the year and never get chance to look back on what you didn't pick! So, I am doing that now....

Fallen Again

Fallen Again

This was a 'reserve' shot for week 4 of project 52. I like one I got today more, but am seriously hoping for better to come before the week is out. Finding the 52 tricky - I feel I need to take my best photographs ever, each week. I counted week 2 as possibly my best ever shot, so wanted to make week 3 even better, a difficult ask. I have calmed down a bit after week 3 turned out to be my least popular photo in a long while - but still, the pressure nags a little!

View small, in my opinion! Not the usual request but it is easier for you haha!
