This gnarled twisted leafless tree (Or is it a tree?- for a moment I thought it had arms and fingers...) looks as if it has been decorated as part of some bizarre long-forgotten rite. Are the pumpkins supposed to ward off evil spirits- or are they themselves in some way inherently evil? Or a bit of both. We can only guess. The circling crows above and the uncanny firelight tones give this image an eerie intensity.
I saw this in the 'b-square' pool.
