I've been fiddling around with the 120 degree angle fold on the tips- trying to find a way to easily incorporate it into some other sort of fold.
I'm not very good at creating 3 dimensional works (like your katydid, for example) although I have been trying.
I think I need to take a week or two off and hide somewhere with my copy of Origami Design Secrets and try all the models contained within, to see if I can understand Dr Lang's folding methods a little better. I pulled off an OK copy of his moose, but I'd like to have a better basic grasp of the circle/river packing methods as well as splitting points and whatnot.
I really geek out on tessellations, though, as they fulfill some sort of intrinsic science need for me.
