Snowy Owl Dungeness N.W.R.

Snowy Owl Dungeness N.W.R.

A 6.44km hike out on the spit and there it was. It's nice to see the snowy's back. This bird was seen in the same area as the last time the snowy's were on the spit. It looks like a first year bird to me.

Leucistic Red-tailed Hawk Ferndale Washington

Leucistic Red-tailed Hawk Ferndale Washington

Brad Otto of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife gave us the location of a leucistic Red-tailed Hawk. Thanks Brad for your excellent directions on how to locate this beautiful bird I would have never had the chance to see it with out your help.
The location of where this bird has been seen for the last four days is: Interstate 5 north of Ferndale to Grandview exit, west on Grandview to Blaine, north on Blaine. As you turn on Blaine start looking for the next 500 meters. David and I saw this bird to the west no more than 50 meters from the intersection flying.
