A little bit of snow doesn't stop the Swiss running their trains up the mountain in Zermatt. Although to be fair, they are purpose designed and built to handle it.

This has the look of a "toy town" or minature landscape. The wind had flattened all the new snow into a smoth velvety appearance from a distance.

Taken on a white-out powder day in Cervinia, Italy. Whitelines magazine have a similar photo as their T-Shirt image this year, which is a bit more impressive than this, but I like it all the same.

Snow, wind and sun all combine to create some majestic natural patterns on Christmas Day.

This was the wonderful sight that early sun, wind, and mountains of snow and ice combined to create in Cervinia.

It looks lovely, but was the product of -15 degrees centrigrade along with a bitterly cold 80mph wind. Much nicer to look at on a computer screen than in person - but you can't beat being there!

This is a view of the Matterhorn (4,477m high) taken from the Klein Matterhorn (3,883m high) across the valley in Switzerland on Christmas Day 2011. Fantastic sunshine, blue skies and fresh snow. A great cheap holiday, booked when there was no snow out there, which all changed before we got there. This was one of the few days out there without 80mph+ winds. Which was nice.
