It's not every day a neighbor calls and says, "you've got to come over and see this really interesting fungus in my back yard." But Nikon in hand, I was off to see what could be so fascinating. A few pics and the obligatory discussion about psilocybin later, and I was done. Best as I can tell, this is a golden chanterelle, which is supposedly edible. But I wouldn't put much stock in that identification.
