'Cumbrian Mountain Express' in the Dales

Catching a rare shaft of sunlight, Standard 7P no. 70000 'Britannia' works the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' northwards past Horton in Ribblesdale on the 3rd March 2012. The steam leg of the journey started in York and progressed through Leeds, Skipton, Settle and Appleby to Carlisle.

Curlew Tit ?

Curlew Tit ?

I've come across Curlew Sandpipers in the past, but I hadn't seen a Curlew Tit until I encountered this little fellow at Towneley on the 2nd March 2012.

Or so it appeared. Actually, this was an unfortunate Blue Tit which was being severely hampered by it's overgrown top bill, so much so that it was having great difficulty in picking up the peanuts which it was eyeing, dropping most and abandoning them to other more fortunate birds..
