Blue and Red

Blue and Red

This is a collaborative effort thanks to Christopher Lange and Kirsty Reeves. It was taken using a single external flash with a deep blue color gel wrapped around it. The flash went off twice on each side of her face during a 5 second exposure. At 2 seconds into the exposure, she moved her head to her left so that a shadow could be formed on the background. The red lines are caused by a laser being "painted" onto the face during the exposure. It was shot in complete darkness, hence the deep blacks.

This is a good friend of mine. I shot this when the morning light was very moody because of the amount of moisture in the air. I decided to vignette the image during the printing stage in the darkroom.

Shot with the Bronica S2 using TMY2 (T-max 400) film, exposed at 1000 EI and developed in Acufine for 5 minutes.
