Aker Church, Oslo- Norway

Aker Church, Oslo- Norway

Old Aker Church (Norwegian: Gamle Aker kirke) is a medieval church located in Oslo. An active parish, the church is the oldest building and the only remaining church from the Middle Ages. t is situated on Akersberget overlooking the old street of Telthusbakken. Under it you find the oldest silver mines in Norway, dating back to the viking era.
There is an old myth connected to the church and the caves underneath it. It claims that a dragon rests in a cave under the church, and that it guards a treasure. In the cave there are said to be four pillars of gold holding up the church building. The stories says that from time to time you can see a sulphurous steam coming out of the cave from the sleeping dragon. I couldn't find the dragon, nor the treasure!

Las Ballenas Beach- Samana- Dominican Republic

Las Ballenas Beach- Samana- Dominican Republic

Playa Las Ballenas is the westernmost of the three beaches at the town of Las Terrenas (the others are Terrenas and Punta Popy, all three of them forming a continuous stretch of beach with different names). Ballenas is the nicest stretch in town, since it's the quietest section. The western edge is undeveloped. The beach is named for the small whale-shaped cays in the distance.

This photo made it to EXPLORE on 31st of October! and 1st of November! THANK YOU!

And since words can never take the place of pictures, here are some photos of Playa Bonita that will give you a glimpse of this island paradise...

Dolomite cave- Dominican Republic

Dolomite cave- Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has the most extensive cave system in the Caribbean. Not only are these caves fun to explore, but many of them also contain artwork painted and etched on the cave walls by indigenous Taino indians, dating back 1000 to 3000 years. The Dominican Republic has preserved many of these natural wonders but this one in particular was just on the side of a new road that is under construction.

EXPLORED! 28th August. Thanks everybody!
