CC

CC

CC doesn't get many direct postings on Flickr. She is a special girl however. She loves attention and affection and in the mornings she sits on the bathroom counter and watches me while I get ready for work. She often talks to me with soft meows and will sometimes hold a conversation with me, answering my questions with chirps and meows.

I captured CC in September 2007 at the age of approximately 4 months old. My parents actually tamed her (and Smokey) and when they were tame they came to my house to live. CC is unique among my cats in that she has only 3/4 of a tail. The end of it is kinked in a fish hook formation. I believe she was born with it this way and it doesn't seem to bother her.

This is the face of a Drug Thug

This is the face of a Drug Thug

Smokey may look innocent enough, but it turns out that he LOVES catnip. I gave the cats some catnip today, pieces off a real catnip plant. I broke the pieces up and spread them around so all the cats could enjoy it. Most of them sniff it and roll in it, and get stoned or whatever it is that cats experience on this drug that is unique to them. Not Smokey. At first he rolled on his designated piece of catnip. But it didn't take him long to EAT it. Then he started systematically working his way through the other cats, taking their catnip and rolling on it and eating it too. The only one who really put up a fight was Jenna. She fiercely tried to defend her piece of catnip, but in the end she lost hers also to this big thug.

Drive by Raven

Drive by Raven

Yesterday I was driving around town with my camera and I saw this raven right beside the little road I had turned onto. I pulled over and took some pictures of it. Unlike the ravens that come to my house, this one was not afraid of me and my camera and it seemed happy to pose for me.

In comments, a drive by Magpie that wasn't very far away from the raven.

Get out of there Jenna!

Get out of there Jenna!

I bought some heat register vent covers to put on the floor of my cat trap. Some of the more trap wary cats may not like walking on the wires and I read online that these magnetic vent covers work well. They do indeed seem to work well. Next week I will give them a field test...

I did not let the trap spring shut on Jenna. After clicking this shot I intervened. She must not remember me using this to catch her when she was a kitten. Either that, or her curiosity just gets the best of her.
