Catching up on Emails

*Update on my Archives

I recently entered this picture into my 1st photography contest and it was one of the winners chosen to be featured in the upcoming 2012 DCist Photgraphy Show. I am truly honored as this will be the 1st time that one of my pictures is displayed at a venue like this. The Long View Gallery in DC will host the show from March 21-April 1. More details about the two opening nights are yet to come, so mark your calendars if you are in the area and check out Twitter or Facebook for updates. Thanks for all of your support!

Candid shot as I was leaving the DC Convention Center during the 2011 AUSA Expo. I literally was getting ready to head out the doors when I stopped to check my blackberry. When I looked up, I smiled as this scene was to my left. I quickly grabbed my little dinky Canon Powershot, waited for the guy at the top of the stairs to come into frame and captured this moment in time that I'm sharing with you today : )

The Year of the Dragon

The Year of the Dragon

Other years might seem to drag on, but the Year of the Dragon has the potential to breathe life-shaping fire, to be magical, even mythical. According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Dragon begins on January 23, 2012 and ends on February 9, 2013. The Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 Animal signs. The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. In ancient China, the celestial Dragon represents an emperor and power. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness. May the celestial Dragon bring great good luck to everyone : )

Today I hit 150,000 all time views on my Flickr account! I'm sure that is chump change for some of you, but I have to admit that I'm pretty stoked about hitting that milestone! Thanks for all of the views, faves, comments & inspiration.

Much Mahalo,

Tony

Neufeldt-Kuhnke Armored Diving Suit

Neufeldt-Kuhnke Armored Diving Suit

Developed in Germany before World War II, this deep-diving suit could work at depths of 400 feet or more. Oxygen was carried in bottles on the back of the suit and a regenerative apparatus absorbed the carbon dioxide bubbles exhaled by the diver. This suit, however, proved to be too clumsy for practical use.
