Here is the photo and story I sent to the rescue shelter were I adopted Tasha from back in July. They are adding a page on their new website called Happy Tails:)
This is Tasha, aka Celica who I adopted on July 10th 2011 when she was at the Henrietta Pet Smart
along with her two brothers Blazer & Diesel. I had lost my female tabby Nikki last February after
over fifteen great years together and I missed her so deeply,we had a very deep bond. I asked Nikki
to send me a new baby to love and care for when the time was right. Well, I guess she decided
I was ready because she sent me my little Tasha here!! There is no mistaking she was
meant to be mine!! The strange thing is that Tasha was born exactly one month after Nikki's ashes
came home, which ironically was Valentines Day. Tasha was born on March 4th of 2011.
The day I adopted her I was not even planning on going out of the house, but then all of a sudden
out of the blue I felt compelled to get to the pet store!! I was also missing Nikki very badly at
this time, and she was on my mind. I called my husband and told him I had to get to the pet store
as soon as possible, telling him I wanted to get a hamster or some other furry pet.We decided
stop for lunch first, then we proceeded to go down the street to PetSmart .
As we were going up to the front doors I saw the sign for the cats & kittens up for adoption
and half jokingly told my husband to keep me away from the cats! Well,I ended up walking
right past the hamsters, and straight back to the adoptable cats & kittens!! The first one
I noticed right away was Tasha!! I knew instantly she was The One!! I got tears in my eyes
and was so afraid I would not be able to get her. I also did not know at the time if she was
a girl or boy (I really wanted a girl). My husband walked up and I looked at him and said
that she was the one and that I have to take her home!! He said that if she was a girl we
would take her!! I went to the window and took her sign down so nobody else could take her
and we waited until the very nice girl doing the adoptions that day could let me see her.
When we finally got to meet her, and found out she was indeed a girl I was so relieved!!
She was also the only Tabby as well! As soon as I held her in my arms she stretched
up and gave me a little kiss....from that moment on I was hers!! When we got her home
she was instantly at ease, and playing and running around like a maniac!!! She still
has so much energy, and is so much fun to play with!! She is also super agile and scared
me when on her second day home she leaped from the bed,to the window sill, and
up on to the narrow top of the closet door with no effort at all!!! She was balancing above
my head practically touching the ceiling!!! I got her down and she two seconds later
she was back up again.....just like a little leopard!!! Now I make sure the closet door
stays closed if she is nearby!!
Tasha is also a natural in front of the camera,as you can see from her attached photos.
The photo in the top left corner was her very first photo, taken by me after only one
hour of her arriving home! The photo in the bottom right is more recent and also my
favorite, she is nine months in that one. Tasha is also extremely smart and has learned
to sit when I ask her, and she also sits up when I say beg!!! She learned this in about
five minutes!!! She also fetches, and loves to carry her toys around in her mouth like
a dog!! She also met her first dog last weekend and went right up to him and sniffed
his butt....just like another dog would!! No hissing, puffing up, or any sign of fear from
my amazing little girl!!! She actually seemed to enjoy his company:) Oddly my Nikki
used to like dogs too, and acted the same way when she met her first dog!! Another
sign to me that my Tasha was sent to me by Nikki, and that we were meant to have
found each other!!! I really can't say enough about her....she keeps amazing me
every day!! I also can not thank enough the amazing staff at Scottsville Veterinary
Adoptions for the amazing care and socialization you obviously gave my Tasha
so she could be here with me!!! I will always be forever grateful for all you have
done, and continue to do for so many precious and innocent animals in need!!
Tasha is now ten months old and weighs twelve pounds!!! I really think she has
some Bengal some were in her background!! She really is incredible and I love
her so much!!! Thank you again for saving this special little angel for me!!!
