- Amy, this is the Kansas Centennial stamp
- this is a Brazilian stamp
- Nebraska, my home state, and its centennial stamp

My dad found a cigarbox full of these wonderful cancelled stamps from the 1950's at a garage sale. He thoughtfully gifted them to Ben and me for our enjoyment. I tried to pick out the best ones that were meaningful to me: states I have lived in, people and subjects I am interested in, etc.
Thanks, Dad!

Ha ha - Yes, I was cleaning so had to stop off at flickr for a 2 minute morale break. I can't see the Kansas one I guess -- but what a cool garage sale find and so cool of your Dad to think of you. I've never gotten into any sort of paper craft and am pretty useless at glueing or cutting. But someday I want to learn. I had a matchbook/matchbox collection for the longest time but I got rid of it a few years ago. I saved the covers though with the idea that I'd make a big collage. Um yeah. Oh goodness - long enough comment - I can email ya later.

:-) Super cool. I'm marveling at the dedication of stamp lovers to peel off (flat and in one piece somehow) old stamps, dry them, and save them so lovingly for so long.

wow.

For older stamps you just cut around the stamp and put it in a little dish of water. After a little while it will just fall off, then just let it air dry.
I don't know if this works for the newer self-adhesive stamps.

It works with the new ones but don't let the water get too hot or it will ruin them (experience is a nasty teacher)
