Merced River, Little Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park
After parking the car at camp 4 in Yosemite Valley, securing a wilderness permit, and hitchhiking up to Tuolumne Meadow because the shuttles are done for the season (sort of fun - felt like a kid again), we started down the Muir Trail. That was a long day.
Climbed Half Dome Tuesday, and then camped that night at Little Yosemite Valley, the only "legal" place to camp before descending to Happy Isles. Never camped there before. 400+ miles of backpacking solitude this year, and all of the sudden it's like freakin' Woodstock. Popular place.
This pic is the Merced river next to the campground. Serene that morning, but a more common scene would be a couple dozen campers swimming, washing their socks, and maybe filtering water...
