The oldest public park in Berlin, the Tiergarten is a favored destination of both locals and visitors who enjoy open green spaces. These days, the park remains popular with walkers, joggers, and those seeking a little sun. However, there's more to see in the Tiergarten than just trees and flowers.

The Tiergarten is a wonderful place to replenish. Stroll along overgrown paths, find romantic bridges and small waterways, rent a boat, have a snack in a beer garden, and sunbathe on the lush lawns. At the end of the Tiergarten, you will find the famous Zoo of Berlin and many subway and bus stations.

The name Tiergarten literally means "animal garden", and in many German cities Tiergarten means the Zoo. While Berlin's Zoo borders the Tiergarten, the Tiergarten itself is home only to the usual wildlife, including a slight excess of rabbits and at least one fox for control thereof.
Located in the heart of Berlin, the Tiergarten is a huge city-centre park, at 210 hectares comparable in size and function to London's Hyde Park (125 hectares) or New York's Central Park (335 hectares).
