      you're welcome sean. this particular source photo has produced some great portraits. it was so helpful in defining the planes and volumes. i loved the way the eyes emerged from the shadow under the brow and had such great expression. then therre was the perfectly positioned glasses and hand. it was a gift and really helped me. it is also true that the 8b is really suiting my style. it gives so much more freedom in shading and line. i couldn't have done this with my usual 2b.
      i think this combined with the fact i am making some progress in my life after a tricky few months is helping me improve. thank you for your support. :0)
