Locked In | Cole Hamels

Locked In | Cole Hamels

About
Just a change of scenery..

I was lucky enough to get a free ticket to the Philles/Nats game in the Diamond Box with the Chair of Pediatrics. They treat you like royalty down there...

Besides sitting behind the guy who tracks pitch speed and enjoying the game a few feet away, I ate 3 dinners that night since it's all you can eat in the Diamond Box. Not only do they have stadium food, but they have banquet food with roast chicken and crab cakes, and all the cotton candy you can handle!!

Oh, and Cole Hamels pitched a 5-hit complete game in Jayson Werth's return to Philadelphia.

A New Day | Mesa Arch

About
Another view of sunrise at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park. This time without a sunburst so the sun's rays are illuminating Washerwoman Arch and Monster Tower.

Ad Astra | Delicate Arch

Ad Astra | Delicate Arch

About
Spent sunset at Delicate Arch at Arches National Park and after the crowds had dissipated, I convinced two other photographers to stay for some star shooting and light painting. Since this was my first try, I learned about light painting on the fly with a few trips and falls in the pitch dark. It's definitely not perfect, but that night will always linger in my memories and just getting out there and trying stuff is the way to go...even if you get a few scrapes on your knees...

The Test Of Time | Crystal Mill

The Test Of Time | Crystal Mill

About
Old Crystal Mill outside the ghost town of Crystal is a wooden powerhouse constructed in 1893 which housed an air compressor. The water from the river generated energy through a wheel to power the air compressor so it could be used for mining. Throughout the years, steel wires had to be added to support the structure from collapsing.

After a 4 mile hike from Marble, CO, we arrived to find peak fall colors in the aspens surrounding the mill, and we spent about 2 hours capturing different angles of the mill and simply enjoying the scene.

The calming waters with the beautiful aspens and the solitude it affords make me wonder about the workers who used to mine in this area - if they saw the beauty around them or if they had to focus on their hard labor-, and how all traces of them have now faded except for Crystal Mill.
