The Secret World Of the Nine Muses of Barbie Land's photostream

A once in a lifetime experience awaits you in a rustic old shed in the depths of my garden. This ongoing project is home to the Nine Muses of Inspiration. Since July I have dedicated my time to transforming a derelict shed into a magical, wonderful place.

The Muses in Greek mythology, poetry, and literature are the Goddesses or spirits who inspire the creation of literature and the arts. They were the daughters of Zeus, the second generation king of the gods, and the offspring of Mnemosyne, Goddess of Memory. They were considered the source of the knowledge, which was contained in poetic lyrics and myths.

These nine Goddesses embody the arts and inspire the creation process with their graces, through remembered and improvised song and theatre, writing, traditional music, and dance.

The Muses are "the key to a good life" they once brought both prosperity and friendship. It was believed that the muses would help inspire people to do their best, which in my shed, in the bottom of my garden, becomes the role of Barbie.

To achieve a sacred ambience for visitors to experience the magical inspirational influence of the Nine Muses, I have cast 9 gold emblems. Some are adorned with jewels, some pearls, some exotic cloths woven from gold thread. Positioned carefully on the ceiling, each emblem identifies the attributes and qualities of each Goddess. Choose a Goddess to revere, contemplate wisely and they could bring you success, prosperity, fame and fortune.
