nutshell

No worries. I'm ok , it's just a song i been listening to again in the last days, one of my favorite old songs from Alice in Chains called "nutshell". Do you know the feeling when you listen to songs and you realize that they could have been written by yourself? When it feels like they're singing about *you*, that it comes from *within you*? Sometimes I listen to songs and like the music without noticing the lyrics. Sometimes the instruments already bring me to tears and when i finally listen to what they sing it's sometimes a shock how much it sounds like if they have just stepped inside my heart and head and pulled out what was lurking and crying in there. This one here was so speaking out of me back in the days, and i still feel it. Though i wouldn't think i'd be better of dead at the moment, and this is why i left this exact word unwritten...

Alice in Chains - Nutshell.

We chase misprinted lies
We face the path of time
And yet I fight
And yet I fight
This battle all alone
No one to cry to
No place to call home

Oooh...Oooh...
Oooh...Oooh...

My gift of self is raped
My privacy is raked
And yet I find
And yet I find
Repeating in my head
If I can't be my own
I'd feel better dead

Oooh...Oooh...
Oooh...Oooh...

nono, i won't analyse the scribblings... imagine if someone would do that with mine! (the horror). i like your handwriting, though. and i like it that you strech the definition of a self portrait. this is indisputably you, although "physical sascha" is hardly in the image. exactly the kind of stuff we talked about in the beginning of this 365days experiment

this is very well done my friend... and yes I know exactly what you mean what you say about music... one of the many wonderful things about music, lyrics, poetry... what strikes me sometimes is the timing of when you hear a song, sometimes it's just what you need at that very moment!

    ;-) good morning sascha!
i have to agree with julian about the "timing of hearing a song" sometimes....it does just happen at odd moments. now, you probably have chosen to listen to this song and it's still the same since it's a song that you've pulled from the archives.
this is a really creative way to do your sp and it doesn't really matter that the only part of you is your hand....your head and your heart are there in the words.
i hope you find time to smile today my friend :D

    wim, yeah that's right.
yes this is what i mean, julian. :-)
    thank you both.

Music and poetry have always done what you are talking about for me. I have now realized the depth of photography and what it means to me as well. I can look at a picture and actually feel the pain or happiness in it. It can bring tears to my eyes....I agree with you all. And for you Sascha....a tremendous mind you have. Still you leave me speechless.....and I promise you, its not the luck. I have kept my word and done what I told you. You will hear good news and I'm so happy that you are smiling. :) And your handwriting is beautiful.

Thanks jen, i'll keep you informed.

Sara thank you again, i know what you mean, but no matter what's the reason for my little bit of luck, i just wanna try enjoying it. And yes, photography, looking at it and using it for me as a tool is such a gift. Yet it cannot do as much to me as music has already done. Music has been a trusted friend ever since,... photography is on its way though. and i don't mean flickr (alone) i mean the whole process from mind to hand to all that. ( see my process diagram on that topic ) ;-)

gotta go to my meeting... see you! with good news hopefully. :-))

i so understand. i always wanted to be a professional musician (until i realized i can't deal with the pressures of being on stage) and i always felt that lyricists had magical powers with their words. i tend to get lost in all the sounds within music, if it's any good.
i have a theory about life ("string theory", if you've heard of it), and that it can be stripped down to vibrations - which is what music IS. every single one of our tiniest cells contain vibrating strings - coils - and when you get down to that small of a reference, the lines between people and animals and rocks and plants and...well, pretty much ANYthing, becomes almost undistiguishable from each other. everything becomes one vibrating unit. this is why i think music is such a strong element in human life, because it is made of the very basic elements that we are all made up of, almost intangible, but very powerful. one could even go so far as to claim that these vibrating coils are where our souls reside. when we insert meaningful words into music, it makes a song or a moment that much more powerful.
my thoughts are with you, as well....fingers crossed that good things are waiting for you......

This reminds of of another pool: HadwritingMeme, except it's not a pangram. Maybe there's a pool just for handwriting? Yours is exceptional. Mine shows me to be a flowery control freak I think. Maybe I'll post a sample later.

I did not count... but it might be a pangram... I will let it slide :)
