Philip Leitner - Elektrosmogsonifikation

Philip Leitner - Elektrosmogsonifikation

The Electromagnetic (EM) wave is a carrier medium. It provides us with long range communication and is the base transporting layer of so called modern communication. But it is also masqueraded: although we use it all the time, we access it using tools provided to us by the cooperation of our choice, which brings up another point of EM waves. I would describe it as a territory. Frequency ranges are licenced to "providers" and national borders are marked by messages informing us of the transition to one of their "roaming" partners.

The space of the Project This.Play , a small offspace in Glockengasse provides a perfect infrastructure for hosting a new media DIY-focus. With presentations on 4 different days, the second week of CODED CULTURES will present different international new media arts positions and communicates / explores with the format of workshops. The This.Play space a is a place for arts, design and media development. Emanuel Andel and Antony Rayzhekoff are running the This.Play company for interaction design and are responsible for the concept and development of the Touch.Wall, that extends common interfaces by adding a new dimension. The product will be installed at the CODED CULTURES Festival for presentations. The Room at This. Play provides a spacious workspace and will be used as a bar and presentation / event space.

Transmediale

Transmediale

transmediale engages in reflective, aesthetic and speculative positions in between art, technology and culture. An annual festival and numerous cooperation projects articulate the relationship between technology and culture in non-linear, dynamic ways. transmediale expresses a critical understanding of technology as being more than the digital as well as of the cultural being more than what is going on within institutionalised fields of production. Accordingly, transmediale is a transdisciplinary platform, always searching for new avenues of artistic, academic, activist and everyday expressions. It is a project always on the look out for projects and persons who may help in navigating, reflect on and ultimately re-model the production of contemporary culture.

Within the scope of its annual festival, transmediale includes exhibitions, conferences, film and video programmes, live performances and publications. It also participates in and supports long- and short-term collaboration projects unfolding throughout the year. Moreover it cooperates with club transmediale (CTM), which deals with electronic music and club culture.
