A colour plate of V and W Class destroyer HMAS WATERHEN in WWII camouflage - Brett Morrow.

6247. One our regular contributors, Sydney modelkmaker Brett Morrow, has created this colour profile of the 'Scrap Iron Flotilla' destroyer HMAS WATERHEN in her wartime camouflage and kindly sent it to us - we think a unique creation, more detailed than any available elsewhere. Brett has made a model of WATERHEN.

Brett tells us the scheme is as it appears in Alan Raven`s book, `Camouflage Vol I, RN 1939-41` p 48, where it appears in a more rudimentary form, and states that the starboard side was probably identical.

Apparently wartime starboard shots of WATERHEN in camouflage are rare, or non-existent. We seem to recall there was a similar problem with HMAS VAMPIRE [I].

Thank you very much for this Brett. We're delighted to have the profile here, and we're sure the model-making community will be also.

Photo/diagram: as cited above.
