Waves blur during a long exposure. Lake Superior and basalt cliffs.

Taken during the blue hour on Sunday morning during a workshop I was teaching. We were experimenting with motion blur using different shutter speeds. The waves were about 1 foot at this point and the wind wailed about 25 knots. Within an hour of this shot, waves built to 3 to 4 feet and later in the day they hit 8 to 10 feet. And we had a sweet blizzard.

We considering moving to a new house and I thought I'd head up over the hill this morning to photograph it at sunrise. I think I could live here. You?

We had a brief aurora surprise in Minnesota tonight. Here's one picture. It was cold out there at 0F when I was shooting, but worth it.

Waiting for the sunrise on Lake Superior.

I haven't been posting much on Flickr this winter. I guess I've been waiting for the ice to form on Lake Superior. It's been a weirdly non-icy winter.
